The designer delivered an official statement to announce the end of his wildly popular label and his withdrawal from the fashion world despite its success over the last few years, highlighted by a Lanvin collaboration.
Having the opportunity to meet you today fills me with immense pride and gratitude. Our unconventional approach to expressing an artistic critique of the fashion industry began over four years ago.
Our company was founded on quality and industrial design on t-shirts. Wee has been fortunate to gain the support of customers who believe in the product and the company itself.
We have built a culture that allows the Gallery Dept T-Shirt to be a catalyst for change and a laboratory for innovation. Disgruntled with the fashion industry’s monotony, we raise concerns about how it is polluting both our minds and the environment. Various media outlets promote an ideology of consumerism that conflicts with our ethics and involvement in conventional life. We detest products that are disposable and promote the ideology of consumerism.
The Gallery Department t-shirt has always been focused on making the best product with the least amount of resource usage.
My decision to continue the practice of being an artist and withdraw myself from the fashion industry is due to the unique nature of each case, which deserves a unique solution.
It is truly a pleasure doing business with you and appreciating your support. The t-shirt would be my pleasure to have everyone join me on this journey in the future.
Thanks a lot!
In preparation for his next venture, Le Bar dé musique de la Galerie, Josué Thomas appears to continue to offer Gallery Dept’s t-shirt remaining stock. A multi-concept space will be developed in Los Angeles that combines food and drink, music and art.
